Popps trounced the trembling Tradesmen by 6-3. (Please insert picture of naked lady holding ping pong bat here to increase circulation; currently at 3 including 1 demented dog).
Popps stormed to a 4-0 lead in the match before the Tradesmen chiselled their way back into contention at 4-3. It needed a solid performance by John to make the game safe at 5-3.
David (playing heroically with various unmentionable health problems), John and Peter each won 2 of their 3 matches. Strangely, John lost 3-0 against Harry Houdini whom David and Peter beat 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.
On the other hand(or foot if you prefer) John beat Roger the backspinning retriever (sorry about that!) 3-2 yet both David (0-3) and Peter (1-3) were unable to cope with his terrier like play.(sorry again, just can’t help myself!)
For the educators and pedants amongst my readers (Terry) I think David and Peter needed to be be more AGGRESSIVE against Roger’s defensive backspin but of course you need to have that skill level to be able to be successfully AGGRESSIVE against a fairly accomplished defensive practitioner.

Thanks for the report David. I resisted the request for the naked lady as it would probably lose us the few readers we have got either through outrage or possiby through heart attacks. This was a very good result as we lsot 3 – 6 to Tradesmen 2 in the first half of the season. This was the last match of the season so it will be interesting to see if we achieved our most ambitious target, to finish near the top of the bottom half. If we have I am sure I can take some credit as it wouldn’t have been possible if I had been available to play since Christmas. I think it is time for you to add to your stock of journalistic metaphors. In the present idiom of canine metaphors the only one you haven’t used yet is ‘scoop’!
The Team’s reporting standard is currently Div 1 (even if the TT isnt).
We do not have to lower our standards to Tabloid levels. However….if you really want some models …. try ‘Pets are Us’. They may give the reports a bit more bite.
